Duke

How to watch or stream No. 17 Duke’s football game with No. 11 Notre Dame on Saturday

Back before this season began, as Duke prepared to host a top-10 Clemson team in a highly anticipated opener, the Blue Devils’ lack of experience in such situations looked like a weakness.

Instead, Duke handed then No. 9-ranked Clemson a 28-7 loss.

This week, after winning three more games since then, No. 17-ranked Duke is preparing for a similarly high-profile game against No. 11 Notre Dame at Wallace Wade Stadium on Saturday night.

ESPN’s College GameDay football pregame show is in Durham for the first time. The 7:44 p.m. game will be televised nationally on ABC.

At least this time the Blue Devils (4-0, 1-0 ACC) can look back on their Clemson experience as proof they can properly navigate such situations. Of course, Notre Dame (4-1) plays under this spotlight routinely.

“We still don’t have the volume of it that the teams that were playing on this stage do,” Duke coach Mike Elko said this week. “So that’s still probably an area that that concerns us. First time hosting Game Day with all the noise and the buzz that’s around that. I told the guys this morning, you know, we’re getting a lot of congratulations for game day coming here. I’d rather wait and get some congratulations for how we play football game Saturday night. Just trying to stay focused on the task at hand.”

The Blue Devils have handled every situation well so far this season. For the first time in program history, they’ve won their first four games by 21 points or more. The 7-6 halftime deficit Duke faced against Clemson is the last time it has trailed this season. That was 14 quarters of football ago.
