NC State’s Manny Bates and Pat Andree out for Virginia game
N.C. State’s injury luck has gone from bad to worse.
The Wolfpack will be without two players for Monday’s game at Virginia. Forward Manny Bates (concussion protocol) and forward Pat Andree (ankle) will be sidelined for the road game.
Both left Saturday’s home win over Clemson with injuries. Bates got tangled up with Clemson forward Aamir Simms midway through the first half. Andree turned his right ankle later in the second half.
Bates (6-11, 230 pounds) is being treated in the concussion protocol and did not make the trip to Charlottesville, team spokesman Craig Hammel said on Monday.
Andree traveled with the team but watched warmups from the bench and had a walking boot on his right foot.
N.C. State has had its complete lineup for only two of its seven ACC games. Bates is the third Wolfpack player to go through the concussion protocol this season.
Senior guard C.J. Bryce missed four games with a concussion. Guard Markell Johnson and forward D.J. Funderburk have also missed at least one ACC game this season.
Bates had started every game this season. He leads the ACC with 2.9 blocks per game. Andree, a grad transfer from Lehigh, averages 6.5 points off the bench.
