NC State football adds 4 players - including one from Heritage - on National Signing Day

N.C. State had a small number of signees for the February signing period, but the four-man class had a big local impact.

Two of the four February signees are from North Carolina. One, 6-3, 185-pound wide receiver Joshua Crabtree, is a three-star recruit from Heritage High School. The other, Anthony Carter, Jr., a 6-4, 296-pound offensive guard from Butler High in Matthews.

Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren was also able to bring in a pair of defensive linemen, a position he needs help with. Three defensive linemen transferred out of the program since the start of the 2019 season and he has to replace three seniors from the regular rotation.

Nick Booker-Brown, a 6-1, 250-pound defensive tackle from Houston, and Claude Larkins Jr., a 6-4, 252-pound defensive end from Hollywood, Florida, both signed with N.C. State on Wednesday and could find some playing time right away.

Larkins will have an opportunity to contribute early since most of the players who left the program were ends who were recruited to fit a 4-3 scheme.

N.C. State’s total commitments for the class of 2020 is 21. Eight members of the class enrolled in January.

Veteran line coach Charley Wiles was hired from Virginia Tech after the December signing period to replace Kevin Patrick, who left for Florida Atlantic after the season.
