Veteran offensive lineman latest to leave NC State football program
For the past two years, Josh Fedd-Jackson has been a fixture on N.C. State’s offensive line. He’ll have a new home for the 2020 college football season.
Fedd-Jackson has requested to enter the transfer portal, senior associate athletic director Fred Demarest said on Friday.
Fedd-Jackson, who is from Newark, N.J., will have to sit out the 2020 season under NCAA rules, unless he receives a waiver. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
He is the ninth player to transfer out of the program since the end of the 2019 season and fifth with starting experience. Fedd-Jackson (6-3, 323 pounds) started 24 games in his three-year career with the Wolfpack.
In a season filled with injury issues, Fedd-Jackson started 11 of 12 games at right guard and started 12 of 13 games in 2018.
Coach Dave Doeren made some wholesale changes on his coaching staff and the roster will have a different look when spring practice starts on Feb. 27.
The losses of Fedd-Jackson and veteran cornerback Nick McCloud figure to be the most impactful. Doeren was not available for comment on Friday.
N.C. State is coming off of a 4-8, injury-filled season in 2019. Left tackle Tyrone Riley missed the whole season with a foot injury. Right tackle Justin Witt missed the final seven games with a shoulder injury.
Both are expected to be back for the upcoming season, as are center Grant Gibson (12 starts) and left guard Joe Sculthorpe (11 starts).
