Devon Daniels no longer considering NBA, didn’t submit name for early entry

Kevin Keatts got some good news Wednesday.

Devon Daniels did not submit his name on the early entry list to declare for the NBA draft. The deadline was April 26. Keatts told the media last month that Daniels and D.J. Funderburk were testing the NBA draft process, but not hiring an agent, allowing them to return to school if they decided to.

Daniels (6-foot-5, 205 pounds) has played two seasons for the Wolfpack after transferring from Utah.

The Battle Creek, Mich., native averaged 12.7 points in 32 games last season. Daniels started 24 games a year ago and has played in 68 games with 37 starts the last two seasons. Daniels started the final 21 consecutive games of the season, scoring in double figures in 15 of the final 16 games.

In N.C. State’s final game of the year, a win over Pittsburgh in the ACC tournament, Daniels scored 23 points, shooting 9 of 14 from the field. He played his best down the stretch, scoring a season-high 25 points against Duke on Feb. 19.

Daniels saw his scoring average jump from 9.3 points in 2018-19 to 12.7 ppg last season. He shot 32 percent from the 3-point line a year ago and 70 percent from the foul line.

Keatts must now wait on the plans of forward D.J. Funderburk and signee Josh Hall from Moravian Prep. Underclassmen have until June 3 to withdraw their name.
