Dave Doeren adds four-star, in-state wide receiver to NC State football’s 2021 class
N.C. State’s 2021 recruiting class got a big boost on Tuesday.
Micah Crowell, a four-star wide receiver out of East Forsyth High School, committed to the Wolfpack, making an announcement in a short video.
“This past year I’ve been faced with my share of challenges and obstacles,” Crowell said in the one minute video. “But my faith remained strong and I continued to stick to the script. I want to thank God for giving me the ability and the talent to play the game that I love.”
Seconds later, Crowell emerged wearing a red N.C. State t-shirt.
Crowell (6-2, 205) helped the Eagles win a NCHSAA 4A title as a sophomore. He missed his junior season with a torn ACL. As a sophomore he caught 25 passes for 511 yards and seven touchdowns. He also carried the ball 21 times for 206 yards and two more scores.
The addition of Crowell is a big scoop for Doeren, nabbing his first top-15 player in the state in the class of 2021. With the presence of Mack Brown and his recruiting at UNC, the rival Tar Heels have secured eight players in the top 15. Crowell is ranked No. 11 in North Carolina and the No. 32 wide receiver in the nation, according to 247Sports.
Crowell also held offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State and Arkansas, among others. He had more than 30 offers, including offers from UNC and ECU.
He is now the highest ranked player to commit to Doeren in the class of 2021. Doeren now has eight verbal commitments for the 2021 class. Crowell is the first four-star commitment. Doeren posted his customary ‘Light It Red’ tweet last night.
