NC State football gets verbal commitment from Jordan Poole, state’s 4th-rated athlete
They’ll be howling in Raleigh this weekend, and for good reason.
N.C. State coach Dave Doeren secured a verbal commit from one of the top prospects in the state in West Stanly’s Jordan Poole.
Poole made the announcement on Saturday, picking the Wolfpack over Virginia Tech and South Carolina. Standing at 6-0 and weighing 225 pounds, Poole was a two-way star for the Colts.
As a junior, Poole rushed for 1,534 yards and 21 touchdowns. As a defensive back he finished with 36 tackles and one interception. Poole is projected to play linebacker at N.C. State.
According to 247Sports, Poole is the No. 4 overall athlete in the state and the No. 5 prospect in the class of 2021. He’s ranked No. 7 in the Observer’s Top 25. Out of the top 10 in the Observer’s Top 25, Poole was the last one to verbally commit and the first to select N.C. State, a major recruiting victory for Doeren. After landing seven of the top 25 players in North Carolina in the class of 2019, the Wolfpack only got four a year ago. So far in the class of 2021, Doeren has secured three top 25 commitments.
East Forsyth wide receiver Micah Crowell and North Lincolnton defensive end Travali Price both verbally committed in June.
Doeren now has 17 verbal commitments for the class of 2021, which is ranked No. 10 in the ACC. Nine of those commitments are from North Carolina.
