What can NC State football season-ticket holders expect for 2020?
NC State football season tickets will be suspended for the 2020 season, athletic director Boo Corrigan said Tuesday in a letter to Wolfpack season-ticket holders.
The school hasn’t announced how many fans, if any, will be allowed into Carter-Finley Stadium this fall.
If fans are allowed, N.C. State will sell single-game tickets for the 2020 season, which gives the school the ability to adjust fan capacity from game to game. Parking at Carter-Finley will be limited to fans who have tickets to attend that game.
Season ticket holders will be notified Wednesday by the ticket office to provide options for their balance, which includes a refund for their 2020 parking and ticket balance.
Corrigan stressed the importance of the role of 30,000 season tickets holders in the gameday experience at Carter-Finley, but added it was “unrealistic for us to expect that we would be able to accommodate a crowd of that size for every game this fall.”
The financial loss from suspending season tickets could be up to $21 million, Corrigan said. The entire athletic department is primarily funded with football ticket sales, television revenue and donations from alumni and Wolfpack Club members.
Corrigan added in the letter that the athletic department expects to spend $2 million on regular COVID-19 testing for athletes, coaches and staff.
Corrigan asked regular season ticket holders to invest their 2020 balance into the Preserve the Pack Athletics Fund. The Preserve the Pack campaign will help cover the funding gap due to COVID-19, according to Corrigan’s letter. Season ticket holders who donate to Preserve the Pack will get some perks, which include:
Advance presale access for 2020 football single game tickets.
Ability to lock in 2020 parking location for the 2021 season.
Bonus Wolfpack Club priority points for reinvesting all or portion of 2020 football season ticket balance to Preserve the Pack.
Ability to lock in 2020 football season ticket prices for the 2021 football season.
Invitation to a special VIP experience in 2021 (circumstances permitting).
The Wolfpack home opener is scheduled for Sept. 19 against Wake Forest. N.C. State is set to play five games at Carter-Finley this season.
