NC State lands another basketball transfer, this time from Ole Miss
Kevin Keatts is starting to rebuild his roster in Raleigh.
One day after La Salle’s Jack Clark committed to N.C. State, Keatts got another transfer to commit, this time Mississippi’s Jarkel Joiner.
Joiner, a point guard, started 41 of 50 games the last two years at Ole Miss, with a scoring average in double figures (12 points per game, 13.2) in both seasons.
A native of Oxford, Miss., Joiner averaged 35 points per game as a high school senior. He started his career at Cal State Bakersfield, where he started 61 games.
Earlier this month, Keatts hired former Wolfpack forward Levi Watkins as an assistant. Watkins came to N.C. State from Ole Miss.
After losing Cam Hayes to the transfer portal and potentially losing primary ball handlers Terquavion Smith and Dereon Seabron to the NBA draft, a point guard was a top offseason priority.
