NC State basketball’s Terquavion Smith suffers no major injuries from fall in UNC game

N.C. State guard Terquavion Smith, who took a hard fall during Saturday’s game at North Carolina, was not seriously injured and could be back in the Wolfpack lineup soon.

NCSU said Sunday that Smith suffered neck and elbow pain and experienced some numbness in his right arm. He was placed on a stretcher and taken to UNC Medical Center, where X-rays taken Saturday night were negative.

Smith was released from the hospital Saturday night and returned to Raleigh, NCSU said. His playing status is listed as “day-to-day.”

The first bit of news on Smith’s condition after the game came on social media -- from Smith. He posted on his Twitter account (@Tgetsbuckss23): “I am fine appreciate all the prayers and concern.”

Smith, a sophomore, leads the ACC in scoring at 18.7 points a game. He had 12 points Saturday before being injured midway through the second half after a hard foul from UNC’s Leaky Black, who was assessed a flagrant-2 foul and ejected from the game.

The Tar Heels won 80-69, getting another double-double from Armando Bacot (23 points, 18 rebounds) and hitting 36 of 39 free throws.
