NC State basketball center DJ Burns drops hip-hop single on eve of NCAA Tournament

N.C. State’s D.J. Burns is now a published recording artist.

The Wolfpack center released his first single — “Beast Boy” — on digital platforms ahead of N.C. State’s appearance Friday against Creighton in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

According to the publicity for the recording, it was made by music producer 6ravo, and is said to help listeners “tap into their inner beast.”

Burns, whose Twitter handle is “@beastboyburns,” also shouts out some of his Wolfpack teammates on the song, which is called a “high energy track.”

Burns, said to be an avid fan of rap, plays five instruments. He made the recording at his apartment in Raleigh.

“Beast Boy” can be found on Burns’ SoundCloud and on his YouTube channel (@DJBurns30).
