How to watch, stream NC State play Stanford for the first time in program history
N.C. State is down to one of its final home games of the season and it seeks to pick up a second conference win this weekend.
The Wolfpack (4-4, 1-3 ACC) hosts new first-year ACC member Stanford (2-6, 1-4 ACC) in Raleigh for the teams’ inaugural meeting.
N.C. State is coming off a bye week and 24-23 win at Cal in Week 8, while the Cardinal is entering the game with a 27-24 loss to Wake Forest on homecoming.
Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren said Stanford plays hard and the offense features mobile quarterbacks. Wide receiver Elic Ayomanor and the Cardinal’s defensive front received praise from Doeren and several N.C. State players this week.
“Very impressed with their receiver, number 13. He’s one of the better receivers that we’ve played in our conference,” Doeren said. Ayomanor averages 60.5 receiving yards per game and has scored four receiving touchdowns. “On the defensive side, they have three defensive ends that are very identical in build. … They’re long, athletic edge players.”
N.C. State is still in contention for a bowl game. It needs two wins in the final four games, all of which are winnable. Safety Bishop Fitzgerald and wide receiver Noah Rogers, however, said the team is working to stay focused on this week, something it didn’t do well earlier this fall.
“Before the season started, we were so focused on just looking ahead,” Fitzgerald said. “This team was loaded, looking at the ACC Championship; we didn’t really take it week-by-week. (We’re) just appreciating what’s in front of us right now and just trying to take it one opponent at a time.”
