After spending one season at Butler, a Raleigh native and former local high school basketball standout is returning home to play for N.C. State under head coach Will Wade.

Colt Langdon, who played at Raleigh’s Millbrook High School, committed to the Wolfpack late Thursday on social media. His post read, “I’m home.” His announcement featured photos of Langdon at various stages of his basketball career.

Langdon’s decision was met with excitement from the men’s basketball staff and supporters of the program. Alumnus Jarkel Joiner expressed support on Instagram for Langdon’s commitment, which came after the freshman visited campus last week.

The 6-foot, 7-inch forward redshirted and did not play during his lone season at Butler. After reclassifying to join the Bulldogs as part of the Class of 2024. Langdon has four seasons of eligibility remaining.

Langston attended Millbrook High School in Northeast Raleigh and became the program’s leading scorer in three seasons. He finished with 1,758 career points, and set a single-season record of 738 points his junior year, averaging 26.4 points, 10 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. Langdon’s record-setting junior year surpassed that of Chris Clemons, who led the NCAA with 30.1 points per game at Campbell in 2018-19.

Langdon also had 603 points during his sophomore season, which ranks No. 3 on the single-season scoring list, and was already turning heads as a freshman starter for the Wildcats.

Langdon was a two-time conference Player of the Year and District Player of the Year. He played for Team United and Boo Williams in AAU basketball.

The Raleigh native was ranked as a three-star prospect coming out of high school, and a three-star transfer this offseason. As a high school recruit, he received offers from Illinois, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Virginia and Virginia Tech in addition to Butler.

Langdon joins a still-developing roster that features Paul McNeil — another highly-touted North Carolina native; transfers Alyn Breed, Quadir Copeland, Jerry Deng and Tre Holloman; and incoming freshman Zymicah Wilkins and Matthew Able.

The transfer portal closed to entrants this week, but players can commit to new programs at any time. Wade said at his introductory press conference he hoped to have the roster finalized by early- to mid-May.
