The N.C. State men’s basketball schedule is slowly coming together after another SEC team was added to the regular-season slate, according to a report from CBS Sports college basketball analyst Jon Rothstein.

N.C. State will play Mississippi on Dec. 21 in Greensboro as part of a two-year deal. The Pack will then face the Rebels during the 2026-27 season at a location closer to Oxford.

This will be the second time in three seasons that the two teams meet after N.C. State played Ole Miss on the road in the 2024 ACC-SEC Challenge. The Rebels beat the Wolfpack, 72-52, in 2023 to tie the all-time series, 2-2.

The Pack’s matchup is the second confirmed game against an SEC opponent. N.C. State is also set to play at Auburn on Dec. 3.

CBS Sports also reported that N.C. State will face South Carolina in an exhibition game, also in Greensboro, but no details have been released.

It is also set to face Kansas on Dec. 13 at Lenovo Center and will play in the Maui Invitational during Thanksgiving week.

“We’re going to challenge ourselves in the ACC, we’re going to challenge ourselves in the non-conference,” first-year head coach Will Wade recently said. “We want to compete against the best. You can’t be the best playing a bunch of bad teams. You get better by playing the best teams in the country.

“I like to compete against the best. I don’t care who’s coaching the other team. We want to compete. We want to play the best. … We’ll go schedule some Hall of Fame coaches if we need to.”

N.C. State’s incoming class, composite and transfer, is ranked in the Top 25 nationally.
