Want to cheer on Tar Heels in UNC-Duke Final Four game in New Orleans? What to know

North Carolina fans are invited to participate in sending the men’s basketball team off to New Orleans and the Final Four on Wednesday as they depart from the Dean E. Smith Center to the airport.

The Tar Heels will face rival Duke on Saturday in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament at the Superdome. The team is expected to board its buses parked on Skipper Bowles Drive in front of the Smith Center at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to form a line in Letterman’s Lane that’s between the Smith Center and Koury Natatorium. Parking will not be free in the lots adjacent to the Smith Center until 5 p.m., so plan accordingly.

UNC will also have a Final Four watch party at the Smith Center on Saturday. The Heels don’t play until 8:49 p.m., but doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for students and faculty and 5:45 p.m. for the general public. Admission is free and concessions will be open.

Parking is available for $5 — but bring your credit cards because cash will not be accepted — in the Manning and Bowles lots and the Craige parking deck starting at 4 p.m. ADA parking is available in the Williamson lot for $5 and is also cashless.

The other semifinal game between Villanova and Kansas will be shown at 6:09 p.m.
