Worried about making it to work on Monday, Tar Heels fans? UNC has you covered

With North Carolina getting ready to square off against Kansas in Monday night’s NCAA championship game, Tar Heels fans dreading the full day of work standing between them and the big game need not worry — their team has them covered.

Instead of calling in sick or using a vacation day to get themselves ready for the game, UNC-Chapel Hill basketball fans can produce a request for an excused absence from Tar Heels head coach Hubert Davis himself. At least according to UNC basketball, which posted the letter on Twitter.

“Please excuse ______ from work on Monday, April 4, 2022,” the letter states. “As you are probably aware, it is officially an unofficial national holiday, as the Tar Heels are playing in the National Championship.”

Fans “will need to save all of their energy and positive vibes for the game,” the letter explains.

And even if you don’t have a dog in Monday’s fight, UNC invites everyone “to watch and support this year’s North Carolina Tar Heels,” the team says.

The permission slip of sorts was shared widely on Twitter on Sunday evening.

Many Tar Heels fans said it’d be better to ask for Tuesday, the day after the game, off. Others said they’d be using it on both Monday and Tuesday. And many fans pointed out they would need Tuesday off, irrespective of whether UNC wins or loses.

And at least one boss indicated they’d be more than happy to grant the request if it comes in on Monday morning.
