No. 1 North Carolina heads into its game against James Madison still looking to play up to its potential. Head coach Hubert Davis has described the Tar Heels’ (3-0) play at times during their games as nervous, anxious, soft and trying too much to play like last year.

Davis said he wants them to play free. And so far, they’ve only played that way for short spans.

Caleb Love needs just 12 points to become the 80th player in Carolina’s history to score 1,000 points. UNC leads the NCAA in 1,000-point scorers, well ahead of the second team on the list. Louisville is second with 69.

JMU is the final game before the Heels head to the Phil Knight Invitational on Thursday and potential matchups against teams currently ranked in Villanova, Michigan State and Alabama.
