North Carolina football heads to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, this Saturday with momentum on its side.

The Tar Heels (6-4, 3-3 ACC) are riding a three-game conference win streak, fueled by a dominant run game and an improving defense that showcased its potential in a 31-24 win over Wake Forest. Omarion Hampton, fresh off a career-high 244-yard performance, will once again be the focal point of UNC’s “Run the Damn Ball” offense as the Tar Heels look to secure a fourth straight victory.

North Carolina’s defense, which has often relied on the offense to outscore opponents, took pride in stepping up last weekend. Players like defensive back Marcus Allen and defensive lineman Joshua Harris, Sr., emphasized the unit’s simplified approach, improved communication and ability to generate turnovers as keys to its recent success. In particular, Harris’ strip-sack against Wake Forest highlighted the group’s growth under defensive line coach Ted Monachino and defensive coordinator Geoff Collins.

“It goes back to (Collins), just letting us play,” Harris, Sr., said of the defensive line’s recent success. “I feel like everybody up front is more free. Everybody is just being themselves… just being dialed in to simple calls, simple tasks and just being able to go out there and execute.”

Boston College (5-5, 2-4 ACC) presents a new challenge with quarterback Grayson James now at the helm. A transfer from Florida International, James took over the starting role last Saturday and impressed despite a 38-28 loss to No. 14 SMU. The junior completed 18 of 32 passes for 237 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown pass and a 20-yard rushing touchdown that briefly gave the Eagles a second-half lead.

Allen described James as a poised pocket passer with a strong arm and impressive throwing ability.

“It’ll be a good challenge for us,” he said.
