North Carolina’s Tar Heels, struggling on the basketball court, have scored a big win off it.

The Tar Heels received a commitment late Thursday from power forward Caleb Wilson, a five-star recruit from Atlanta. Wilson rated the No. 6 recruit nationally in the ESPN 100. He announced his decision on the “NBA on TNT” set.

Wilson was being intensely recruited by Kentucky but landed by UNC coach Hubert Davis and his staff. He is the fourth five-star recruit to sign with the Tar Heels since Davis became head coach, 247Sports reported.

“I picked North Carolina because of their culture and the history of the program,” Wilson later told ESPN. “It was everything I was looking for in a program.”

The Heels now have commitments from Wilson in addition to guards Derek Dixon of Washington, D.C., and Isaiah Denis of Davidson – both rated four-star recruits. The UNC class now is seventh nationally in the 247Sports rankings and third in the ACC.

Duke, which has commitments from four five-star recruits, is ranked No. 1 and Notre Dame No. 5 by 247Sports.

Wilson is listed at 6-foot-9 and 205 pounds and was recruited by Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Ohio State in addition to Kentucky. Former Kentucky coach John Calipari recruited Wilson while with the Wildcats and continued after taking over at Arkansas.
