Observations
When UNC and Davidson last played in the Smith Center the Tar Heels needed overtime to pull out a 97-85 victory. The Wildcats are in position to give UNC a game again. Three Davidson starters are averaging at least 17 points per game and Jack Gibbs, the junior guard, scored a career-high 41 points in Davidson’s victory against Charlotte on Thursday. UNC is coming off an emotional victory against Maryland in which senior guard Marcus Paige scored 20 points in his season debut. Expect a fast pace with some scoring on Sunday night. Davidson is 18th in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency, according to kenpom.com, while UNC is fourth.
