Observations

This is the first time UNC and Notre Dame will have played since Notre Dame’s 90-82 victory in a thrilling ACC tournament championship game last season. The Fighting Irish had to replace Jerian Grant and Pat Connaughton but UNC coach Roy Williams sees a lot of similarities between that Notre Dame team and this one. This season, though, the Fighting Irish are taking their time more often. Notre Dame ranks 303rd nationally in adjusted tempo. But don’t let that fool you: the Fighting Irish are one of the best offensive teams in the country. On the other hand, though, Notre Dame has been one of the worst defensive teams in the ACC. That could bode well for UNC.
