UNC's Tim Scott on ECU: If we're not motivated after they embarrassed us, we shouldn't show up

North Carolina's 55-31 defeat against East Carolina last season was probably the lowest point of the season for the Tar Heels – an embarrassing defeat that ended with the Tar Heels trudging off the field while the Pirates' band played on in a far corner of Kenan Stadium.

After that loss, you might remember, some UNC players said they'd taken ECU lightly. After all, this is a series that UNC (11-3-1 against the Pirates) has mostly dominated. That's one thing, at least, the Tar Heels shouldn't have an issue with this week.

There should be no looking past ECU. Not after what the Pirates did last season in Chapel Hill. And not after what they did on Saturday in Blacksburg, Va., where they built a big lead at Virginia Tech and won that game with a touchdown in the final minute.

Said Tim Scott, the UNC senior safety: “If we're not motivated after they embarrassed us last year, then we shouldn't show up.”

Indeed.

I wrote a story about this right here.
