Luke Maye is UNC's first basketball commitment in class of 2015

North Carolina has its first basketball commitment in the class of 2015. Luke Maye, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Hough High in Cornelius, has committed to the Tar Heels, according to Inside Carolina and other outlets that regularly cover recruiting.

Maye's other two finalists were Clemson and Davidson, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.com. Maye's high school team defeated West Charlotte High, with Kennedy Meeks, in the 2013 state playoffs. Maye scored 19 points and had 14 rebounds and at times outplayed Meeks, according to Inside Carolina's Sherrell McMillan.

Maye isn't considered a top-100 prospect by any of the major recruiting networks (Scout, Rivals, ESPN). Rivals ranks him the 145th-best prospect in his class. ESPN ranks him the No. 25 power forward in his class, but the second-best prospect in North Carolina.
