NC State fan ejected from arena after incident with UNC player

PNC Arena security ejected an N.C. State fan in the second half of Saturday’s game with North Carolina.

The fan, sitting in a courtside seat across from the UNC bench, made contact with UNC sophomore guard Brandon Robinson midway through the second half.

PNC Arena management and N.C. State athletic officials declined to release the name of the fan. The fan was initially moved by arena security from the courtside seat to a second-level lounge, according to Dave Olsen, the general manager of PNC Arena.

The fan continued to carry on once he was moved from his initial seat and then was ejected from the building, Olsen said. The fan was not arrested.

The incident happened when UNC forward Luke Maye rebounded a missed shot by N.C. State’s Lennard Freeman and tried to pass the ball to Robinson, who was near the sideline. Maye’s pass was too long and Robinson ran into the crowd while chasing the ball out of bounds. The turnover caused play to stop at 11:05, which is when Robinson and the fan made contact.
