NC State 3B is first-team Preseason All-American
N.C. State third baseman Andrew Knizner is among 12 ACC baseball players named to the 2015 Perfect Game Preseason All-America Teams. The players are selected based on a balance of past performance, 2015 expectations and their prospective talent relative to the MLB Draft.
Knizner was named to the first team, and Duke starting pitcher Duke Michael Matuella was named to the second team.
Barton: Todd Wilkinson, who spent the past three years as assistant athletic director and compliance coordinator after 19 seasons as the Bulldogs’ coach, has been named director of athletics, after the Friday resignation of long-time athletic director Gary Hall.
Football
Campbell: Former N.C. State standout linbacker Freddie Aughtry-Lindsay will coach linebackers for the Camels. He was defensive coodinator and special team’s coach at St. Augustine’s in 2014.
Basketball
St. Augustine’s: Coach MarQus Johnson, some staff and several members of his team recently visited the WakeMed Children’s Hospital where they interacted with the kids and passed out toys, posters and gifts.
Misc.
Raleigh Sports Club: Tommy Burleson, the center for N.C. State’s 1974 NCAA champions, is the guest speaker at the Raleigh Sports Club, noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday in Bradley Hall, 1901 Ridge Road. Cost is $15 for members, $25 for guests.
The club will recognize the Student Athlete of the Week, Jerome Robinson, a Broughton High School basketball player.
