UNC’s Turner a preseason All-American

North Carolina senior offensive guard Landon Turner was named a first-team preseason All-American by college football analyst Phil Steele.

A native of Harrisonburg, Va., Turner has started games in each of the past three seasons and is the Tar Heels’ most consistent performer on the offensive line. He started all 13 games at right guard as a sophomore in 2013 and started all 11 games he played in 2014.

Duke: Linebacker Kelby Brown and safety Jeremy Cash were named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-America Teams. Eight Blue Devils, including first team selections Cash, redshirt senior center Matt Skura and redshirt junior kickoff returner DeVon Edwards, were named to Phil Steele’s preseason All-ACC teams.

Golf

Duke: For the seventh time in school history, a Duke women’s golfer has won the GolfStat Cup, which is given to the golfer who has the best scoring average versus par with at least 20 full rounds played during a season. Blue Devils freshman Leona Maguire was presented with the award.

Field Hockey

Duke: Blue Devils associate head coach Jarred Martin was named the U.S. Junior Women’s High Performance head coach for the U17 squad last week by USA Field Hockey.

Duke: Freshman Adam Wood was named to the Division I PING All-East Region Team as announced by the GCAA over the weekend.
