Duke adds Lexie Brown to roster

Duke women’s basketball coach Joanne P. McCallie announced Monday the signing of junior guard Lexie Brown. Brown will sit out the 2015-16 campaign due to NCAA transfer rules and will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2016-17 season.

A 5-foot-9 guard, Brown played the past two seasons at Maryland where she was an Associated Press Third Team All-American, All-Big Ten First Team, All-Big Ten Defensive Team and Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player as a sophomore. Brown averaged 13.3 points, 4.5 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.2 steals, while draining 69 three-pointers.

Elon: Football coach Rich Skrosky said his squad has elected two captains for the upcoming season: senior defensive back Miles Williams and junior linebacker John Silas.

ECU: Lauren Yaeger has been named assistant athletic trainer. Yaeger will be responsible for athletic training needs related to ECU’s softball program and dance team.

N.C. State: Senior Elisha Hande has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division I women’s at-large second team. This marks the first time Hande has received the honor, and the first time a member of the N.C. State women’s tennis team has been named to a Capital One Academic All-America team in program history.
