5 Blue Devils named to baseball All-ACC Academic
Five Duke baseball players earned All-ACC Academic Team honors, the league announced. Graduate student Mike Rosenfeld, senior Andy Perez, sophomore Cris Perez, freshman Mitch Stallings and freshman Peter Zyla represented the Blue Devils.
It is the third such honor for Rosenfeld and the second for. Perez, who was one of 17 players to earn both All-ACC and All- ACC honors this season.
Notre Dame led all schools with seven selections, followed by Florida State and Miami with six each.
N.C. State tied Duke for the fourth-highest total with five. The Wolfpack is represented by Preston Palmeiro, Andrew Knizner, Tommy DeJuneas, Brian Brown and Joe O'Donnell.
Wake Forest is represented by Nate Mondou, Stuart Fairchild, Kevin Conway, Jr. and Parker Dunshee.
North Carolina is represented by Benton Moss, who was selected for the fourth time.
Men’s Tennis
Duke: Recent graduate Raphael Hemmeler was selected to represent his native Switzerland at the World University Games July 3-14 in Gwangju City, South Korea.
Wake Forest: Romain Bogaerts, a rising senior, will participate in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Masters in September.
Rowing
Duke: Four members were selected to the All-ACC Academic Team. Junior Simone Pitre and seniors Sophia Staal, Claire Vannelli and Caroline Williams represent the Blue Devils.
Misc.
Sports Club: Mike Maniscalco, sportstalk radio host from WDNC and 99.9 The Fan, is the guest speaker noon Wednesday at the Durham Sports Club. The meeting is at Croasdaile Country Club. Maniscalco also hosts the Carolina Hurricanes Pre- and Post-game radio shows.
Swimmg and Diving
Duke: Rising senior Jaimee Gundry has been selected to represent South Africa at this summer’s FINA World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia.
Women’s Golf
Campbell: Anna Svanka of Riga, Latvia and Sofie Huseby of Oslo, Norway have signed athletics grants-in-aid.
