UNC, NC State in top five for Noah Rogers, top player in North Carolina
And then there were five for the best player in the state.
Rolesville wide receiver Noah Rogers has narrowed his list of college choices down to five schools, including two in the Triangle.
Rogers (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) posted on his social media accounts that he has narrowed his choices down to N.C. State, North Carolina, Florida State, Clemson and Ohio State.
The rising senior has not set an announcement date.
A four-star prospect, Rogers is ranked the No. 1 player in North Carolina, according to 247Sports, and the No. 10 wide receiver in the nation.
In three varsity seasons for the Rams, Rogers has caught 102 passes for 2,270 yards. He had 70 catches for 1,432 yards and 22 touchdowns as a junior, leading Rolesville to the 4A eastern finals. Rogers averaged more than 20 yards per catch during the 2021 season.
Rogers has offers from big-time programs in every major conference in the country. His brother, Cyrus, is a walk-on wide receiver at UNC. Rogers is also good friends and 7-on-7 teammates with quarterback Lex Thomas, who has verbally committed to N.C. State. Could those relationships sway his decision one way or another?
Rogers burst onto the scene as a sophomore, helping the Rams reach the 4AA championship game. That season he caught 26 passes for 591 yards and nine scores. In the state title game Rogers had a pair of highlight-reel touchdown catches.
He paired up with current South Florida quarterback Byrum Brown to form one of the best quarterback-receiver duos in the state a year ago.
