Duke football makes changes to 2015 roster
Duke football coach David Cutcliffe announced Wednesday that defensive lineman Michael Mann and offensive lineman Kameron Schroeder will serve as undergraduate assistant coaches this fall after suffering career-ending, upper body injuries.
Cutcliffe also noted that freshman quarterback Daniel Jones has been awarded a scholarship, effective immediately.
Mann served as a reserve defensive end during his three years with the program.
Schroeder, a native of Elk Grove, Calif., redshirted as a true freshman in 2014 and was slated to be a reserve offensive tackle.
Jones is a 6-5, 205-pounder from Charlotte.
Duke: Senior center Matt Skura has been named to the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, given annually to the top center in college football.
Redshirt senior Braxton Deaver has been selected to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award, which honors the top tight end in college football.
ECU: Senior tight end Bryce Williams is on the John Mackey Award watch list.
Wake Forest: Senior linebacker Brandon Chubb and defensive tackle Tylor Harris are on the watch list for the Bednarik Award.
Cross Country
Meredith: The two-time USA South Champion Meredith College cross country team will open the 2015 competition season at the Catawba Invitational in SalisburyFriday, Sept. 4.
Men’s Basketball
NCCU: Former forward Dominique Sutton has been selected to play with the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors' Summer League team.
Men’s Golf
Wake Forest: Freshman Will Zalatoris collected his second All-America award, this time garnering third team honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Women’s Golf
NC State: Senior Rachael Taylor shot 3-under in two rounds of stroke play at the European Ladies Amateur Championship in Helsingor, Denmark. She stood tied for fifth among 125 players, firing consecutive rounds of 70 and 69.
