Pete Maki Joins Duke Baseball Staff

Duke baseball coach Chris Pollard has announced the addition of Pete Maki to the Blue Devil coaching staff. Maki will serve as an assistant coach, working with the Blue Devil pitching staff.

Maki joins the Blue Devils after eight seasons as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Columbia University. He joined the Lions as an assistant coach in 2008 and was promoted to associate head coach in 2012.

The Lions enjoyed tremendous success during Maki’s tenure, capturing four Ivy League Championships, including each of the past three seasons. The Columbia pitching staff was consistently among the best in the Ivy League under Maki’s guidance, leading the conference in team ERA, opposing batting average, strikeouts and hits allowed in Ivy League games in three of the past four seasons.

CIAA: The league will kick-off the 2015 football season with the annual Media Day on Thursday, after holding a free football clinic 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Durham County Stadium.

UNC: Recent graduate, Xenia Rahn, will compete for her home country at the 2015 Thorpe Cup in Filderstadt-Bernhausen, Germany.

Mount Olive: Trojan coach Grant Kelam has signed 13 recruits.

Women’s Soccer

Duke: Junior Rebecca Quinn and Canada’s Women’s National Team advanced to the semifinal portion of the Pan American Games, which will take place Wednesday in Toronto, Canada.
