ECU senior Kendall Frey earns preseason soccer honor
East Carolina Senior forward Kendall Frey was one of 11 players named Tuesday to The American Athletic’s 2015 preseason women’s soccer all-conference team, the league office announced.
Frey was an all conference Second Team choice and selected to the all-tournament team in 2014 after tying for the club lead in goals (8) and points (18), while ranking second on the squad in shots. The Chester Springs, Pa., native started all 21 matches, amassed 1,763 minutes of field time and four of her goals were game-winners. A communication major, she was also named to the NSCAA Scholar All-South Region Team.
Women’s Soccer
NC State: Director of operations Taylor Wilson has taken an assistant coaching opportunity with the St. John’s University women’s soccer program effective immediately.
Wake Forest: Two members of the team qualified for the 115th annual U.S. Women’s Amateur. Rising sophomore Erica Herr and incoming freshman Jennifer Kupcho qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur which is being played in Portland, Ore.
Campbell: The team opened up the 2015 campaign with a convincing 3-0 exhibition victory against USC Upstate on Monday evening at the Eakes Athletic Complex.
Ashley Clark scored first two goals of the contest in the first period and freshman Kylee Arno added a goal in the third period to seal the win.
Men’s Soccer
Wake Forest: The team is set to host the 15th-annual Walt Chyzowych Memorial Fund Soccer Clinic 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Aug. 21 at Spry Stadium.
Chyzowych is known as “a pioneer for American collegiate coaches” for his role founding, organizing and promoting the nation’s first soccer education program.
Wrestling
NC State: The team was recognized by the The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) and Elite Level Sport Marketing (ELSM) with both the Masterful Mission award and the Top Highlight Reel for the 2015 season.
