Duke beats Wake Forest in field hockey exhibition
Duke topped Wake Forest 2-0 on Sunday to get its second field hockey exhibition win of the weekend at Jack Katz Stadium.
Junior Heather Morris pushed a rebound past Deacons goalie Valerie Dahmen in the sixth minute to make it 1-0. Sophomore Alyssa Chillano converted a penalty corner in the 30th minute. The goal was assisted by junior Savannah Story and senior Aileen Johnson.
On Saturday, Duke shutout Davidson. Morris had three goals and an assist. Six different players scored for Duke, including freshman Caroline Andretta and Ainsley Gill. Sarah Furey had one assist.
Men’s Golf
U.S. Amateur: N.C. State’s David Cooke, Stanhope Johnson, and Stephen Franken, Duke’s Max Greyserman, Adam Wood and Matt Oshrine and North Carolina’s Ben Griffin and Carter Jenkins will compete in the U.S. Amateur Championship, which begins Monday at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Ill.
Following stoke play Monday and Tuesday, the top 64 golfers will advance to the match-play portion of the tournament Wednesday.
Duke alumni Turner Southey-Gordon (2012-15) and Michael Muehr (1991-94) will also compete.
