Blue Devils, Wildcats to meet in classic

Defending national champion Duke and fellow Final Four participant Kentucky will meet in one game of the State Farm Champions Classic while Michigan State, which was also in the Final Four, faces Kansas in the other.

The doubleheader caps ESPN’s eighth annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon which will feature 15 men’s games and one women’s – defending national champion Connecticut at Ohio State. The marathon starts at 5:30 p.m. EST Monday, Nov. 16, with the women’s game.

Women’s Tennis

The USTA announced that 2015 NCAA singles champion Jamie Loeb, a North Carolina junior, will play in the U.S. Open later this month in her home state.

Loeb, an Ossining, N.Y., native, received entry by virtue of a wild card she earned by winning the NCAA title in Waco, Texas, in May.

Men’s Tennis

Wake Forest: The team announced Tuesday the addition of a nonconference matchup against Morehead State during the 2016 spring schedule. The match will be held at 5 p.m. March 13 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.

Football

DUKE: Redshirt senior safety Jeremy Cash was named to the CBS Sports Preseason All-America Second Team.

DUKE: The team will hold its annual Meet the Blue Devils Day 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Pascal Field House. The annual gathering signals the kickoff of Duke’s football season and allows fans to meet the players and coaches with opportunities for photos, autographs and kid-friendly activities. Admission and parking are free for the event.

Track And Field

UNC: Director of Track and Field and Cross Country, Harlis Meaders, announced the hiring of Logan Roberts as assistant coach.
