Wolfpack soccer shuts out Oregon 2-0

The N.C. State women’s soccer team picked up its third straight shutout win on Friday, defeating the visiting Oregon Ducks 2-0. Alexa Allen scored her second and third goals of the season on either side of halftime, and freshman goalkeeper Sydney Wootten made five stops.

Friday’s third straight shutout victory marked the first time the Wolfpack has achieved such a feat since Sept. 12-23 of the 2010 season.

East Carolina: The Pirates will travel to Greensboro on Sunday for an in-state, non-conference match against UNC Greensboro.

Volleyball

Duke: Freshman middle blocker Leah Meyer knocked down a career-high 12 kills and Duke swept Western Illinois 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-13) at the Horejsi Family Athletic Center on the final day of the Kansas Invitational.

East Carolina: Improving to 4-0, the Pirates defeated Hampton in straight sets at the Davidson Tournament.

NCCU: The Eagles committed more errors than points in dropping a non-conference match to host Elon in straight sets to begin play in the Phoenix Classic.
