UNC field hockey shuts out Drexel

The North Carolina field hockey team improved to 4-0 with its first shutout of the season, a 3-0 win over Drexel on Sunday afternoon. Playing at the Dragons’ Buckley Field, the No. 2 Tar Heels got goals from senior Emily Wold, sophomore Gab Major and freshman Malin Evert in the victory. Drexel fell to 0-.

The Tar Heels have played all four games on the road this season.

Duke: The team wrapped up the inaugural B1G/ACC Cup, toppling third-ranked Maryland in overtime, 2-1. Duke received a game-winning goal from freshman Morgan Bitting in the 79th minute to conclude the weekend with a 2-0 slate against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents.

Women’s soccer

N.C. State: The team (3-3-0) had a three-match winning streak haltedy, falling by a final score of 3-0 at William & Mary.

Meredith: The team claimed its second win of the Meredith Classic with a 4-0 shutout over Agnes Scott College.

Men’s soccer

Campbell: Sophomore Marco Perez scored his first collegiate goal and fellow sophomore Bradley Farias fired his second of the season, but Campbell fell 6-2 to host UNC Wilmington in the Wrightsville Beach Classic on Sunday afternoon.

UNC: Goals from Zach Wright and Tucker Hume gave No. 4 North Carolina a 2-1 victory over Tulsa Sunday night at Fetzer Field.

North Carolina (3-0-1) scored the first two goals of the game before Tulsa earned a late goal in the first half from Zach Jackson.

The Tar Heels will open ACC play Friday at Virginia Tech.
