Ex-Pack, NFL DB Dewayne Washington to speak at sports club
Heritage High football coach Dewayne Washington, a former N.C. State and NFL star, is the guest speaker Wednesday at the Raleigh Sports Club.
Washington was a standout cornerback for the Wolfpack, and he played 12 season in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs.
The sports club meets 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays. Attendance, which includes lunch, is $15 for members and $25 for guests.

College Football
Saint Augustine: The team will host Elizabeth City State at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gregson Stadium in Raleigh.
Swimming and Diving
Duke: Freshman diver Mackenzie Willborn will represent the United States at the 2015 Junior Pan American Games Oct. 8-11 in Matanzas, Cuba.
Willborn was one of 24 divers selected to the squad based on her performance in August at the USA Diving National Championships.
Women’s Soccer
NC State: The team (4-5-0) begins ACC play 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Pittsburgh.
Men’s Golf
Campbell: Coming off a solid performance in its opening men’s golf tournament of the year, the Camels head to the Sea Islands of South Carolina this weekend for the Rees Jones Invitational at Haig Point.
Mount Olive: The men’s and women’s Golf teams received a big upgrade over the past year. The team raised funds for an indoor practice facility and construction began in March of 2015. The “Practice Shack” was completed in April. The facility is 600 square feet and features an air conditioned and heated space for the golf teams.
Volleyball
Saint Augustine: The team will co-host the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up I at Emery Gymnasium this weekend. Admission is free.
Rifle
NC State: Coach Keith Miller announced that Lauren Phillips, a former All-American as a member of the Nebraska rifle team, would join the program in the spring of 2016.
