Wolfpack golf in first place at Conference Challenge

The N.C. State men’s golf team turned in a dominating performance Friday on the first day of the 2015 Golfweek Conference Challenge.

Four players finished the day in the top seven, as the team shot a 269 (-19) to finish the afternoon in first place by 12 strokes.

In just the second tournament of the 2015-16 season, the Wolfpack has already beaten its best score from last season, which was a 275 at the Wolfpack Spring Open. The team total of 269 ranks as one of the lowest rounds in the history of the NC State men’s golf program.

Field Hockey

UNC: Sophomore Gab Major scored three times in just over three minutes and the team earned a third consecutive shutout in a 5-0 win over No. 11 Boston College 5-0 at Francis E. Henry Stadium. Playing in rainy conditions, No. 2 UNC improved to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in ACC.

Baseball

Campbell: The team begins practice on Monday and will scrimmage 14 times over the five week period, with the first scrimmage on Wednesday.

Campbell will take on the Czech Republic National Team at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at in Holly Springs. The team makes a trip to the Miracle League of Johnston County on Oct. 8.

The Camels’ Trick or Treat at the Perry (Oct. 31) will coincide with Campbell Baseball Family Weekend, Oct. 30-31.

Campbell finished the 2015 season 32-25 overall, securing its fourth-straight 30-win campaign, the first under coach Justin Haire. Campbell has won 163 games over the last four seasons.

Men’s Soccer

ACC: The Friday match at North Carolina was postponed because of weather. A make-up date not been announced.

The Blue Devils will resume action Tuesdaywith a 7 p.m. road match at Davidson.
