Duke ties for 5th in DSG Collegiate Challenge stroke play

The Duke men’s golf team finished the stroke play portion of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Collegiate Challenge Cup in a tie for fifth place after shooting a collective 295 (+11) on Saturday.

Sophomore Adam Wood paced Duke on Saturday, shooting an even-par 71 to move into a tie for 13th place. He balanced two bogeys with two birdies and converting 14 pars. He finished the stroke play portion of the event with a total of 214 (+1).

Sophomore Jake Shuman wrapped up DSG stroke play in a 16th-place tie with a total of 215 (+2) after carding a 75 (+4) on Saturday. Freshman Alex Smalley concluded the third round in a tie for 34th place with a total of 220 (+7), while junior Matt Oshrine finished in a tie for 36th with a total of 221 (+8).

Junior Alex Matlari shot 73 (+2) on Saturday – the Blue Devils’ second-best round of the day – and finished stroke play in a tie for 43rd with a score of 225 (+12).

N.C. State: The Wolfpack completed the second day of action at the 2015 Golfweek Conference Challenge. Through two rounds at Spirit Hollow Golf Course, the Wolfpack is in second among the 15-team field.

Men’s Soccer

Mount Olive: The Trojans fought back after allowing the first goal of the match to beat Erskine 2-1 in Due West, S.C.

Women’s Soccer

Mount Olive: Five Trojans scored in the 5-1 win over Erskine College in Due West, S.C.

Volleyball

Mount Olive: Britni Johnson recorded 10 kills but the Trojans fell to Southern Wesleyan 25-20, 25-13, 25-22.

Women’s Tennis

N.C. State: Three from the Wolpack are set to compete in the International Tennis Federation Charleston 10K tournament.
