Duke comeback bid falls short at No. 7 Notre Dame
Duke rallied from two goals down for the second straight game, but an overtime goal by No. 7 Notre Dame sunk the Blue Devils’ upset bid in ACC men’s soccer action this afternoon. Jeffrey Farina netted the game-winning score for the Fighting Irish.
Brian White and Brody Huitema had the goals for the Blue Devils, their fourth and third this season, respectively.
Campbell: Big South leader Radford scored in each half to take a 2-0 win over host Campbell.
Men’s Cross Country
NCCU: Juniors Gregory Coward and Deandre James were the only two Eagles to displace any of Hampton University’s top-five scoring runners as the N.C. Central men’s cross country team finished behind the Pirates on Saturday at Forest Hills Park.
Shaw: Marcus Nelson crossed the finish line with a time of 30:07 to lead the Bears to a second place finish overall at the Livingstone College XC Classic.
Swimming & Diving
East Carolina: The Pirates won nine individual events and a pair of relays as it split a tri-meet at the Naval Academy on Saturday to open its dual meet season. The women’s team beat Old Dominion, 172.5-119.5, while falling to the host Midshipmen, 150.5-149.5, and the men’s team defeated the Monarchs, 176-124, and fell to Navy, 162-127.
Women’s Golf
Duke: With 18 holes remaining at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational, both Blue Devil sophomore Leona Maguire and the Duke women’s golf team hold leads at the 6,379-yard, Par 72 Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill.
North Carolina: The Tar Heels rounded out day two of the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in eighth place with a 22-over 303.
Women’s Cross Country
Shaw: The Lady Bears tallied a total of 102 points, tying for fourth with Saint Augustine’s.
