‘Inside Basketball’ to debut Saturday
With Countdown to Craziness presented by Delta Air Lines set for Saturday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium, Duke fans can get primed for the annual event with the season premiere of “Inside Basketball with Duke’s Coach K” Saturday morning on Fox Sports South.
The 30-minute show will air at 9:30 a.m. Saturday on the regional sports cable network, and locally in the Triangle area on Sunday at noon on ABC-11 WTVD.
The season-opening episode of “Inside Basketball” will feature Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski previewing the 2015-16 Blue Devils, with a focus on their preparation for the upcoming season and a recap of a busy offseason that included numerous visits with former Duke players and a trip to the White House to celebrate the program’s 2015 NCAA championship.
N.C. State: Nov. 13 marks the opening night of the 2015-16 season for both the N.C. State men’s and women’s basketball teams. Both Wolfpack squads will play at PNC Arena, with the women tipping off against Villanova at 5 p.m. and the men hosting William & Mary at 8 p.m.
Duke: Coming off earning international recognition over the last two summers with Spain, Duke freshman Angela Salvadores has been tabbed the preseason National Freshman of the Year by Lindy’s Magazine.
Baseball
Campbell: The Czechs topped the Camels 2-1 behind a RBI base hit from Petr Cech in the bottom of the fourth, driving in Jakub Sladek, who reached on a one out double Sunday.
Wake Forest: After dropping the first game, Team Black battled back to take the next two to win the Black and Gold World Series over Team Gold, two games to one.
Field Hockey
Duke: After earning ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors, redshirt senior goalkeeper Lauren Blazing has been named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week.
Football
Duke: Redshirt senior safety Jeremy Cash and senior kicker Ross Martin were named to the NFL.com/CFB247 Midseason All-America squad.
East Carolina: Senior tight end Bryce Williams is one of 35 players named to the John Mackey Midseason Award Watch List, according to an announcement by the John Mackey Committee.
Men’s Tennis
N.C. Central: Head coach D. Curtis Lawson and his assistant coach John McLean IV visited with kids from Magnum Elementary School in Bahama, North Carolina, and their dads as part of the All Pro Dad program that is most recognized by its NFL theme and was started with the help of 2006 Super Bowl Champion Coach Tony Dungy.
Volleyball
Shaw: Head coach DiShondra Goree was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Coach of the Week.
Women’s Basketball
Campbell: Fourteen home dates, a pre-Christmas tournament in Florida, and a 20-game Big South Conference slate highlight the 2015-16 Campbell University women's basketball schedule.
