Wolfpack golfer ties for 10th place in native Scotland

N.C. State’s Rachael Taylor, a Scotland native, represented her country this week in the Spirit International at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Texas.

The coed team event featured 20 nations, with Team Scotland tying for 10th place.

Taylor and Jessica Meek, who is a junior at Missouri, combined to score 12-under par, good for a 10th-place tie among women's teams.

The Scottish duo of Ewen Ferguson and Grant Forrest combined to shoot 10-under. Overall, Team Scotland's 22-under par mark tied Japan and Belgium for 10th place.

Women’s Basketball

Duke: 2014 alumna Tricia Liston and the Minnesota Lynx claimed the 2015 WNBA title Wednesday evening with a 69-52 game five victory over the Indiana Fever. Liston joins Mistie Bass (2014) and Karima Christmas (2012) as Blue Devils who have won WNBA Championships. Duke alumnae have claimed WNBA titles in three out of the last four seasons.

A native of River Forest, Ill., Liston appeared in 31 games on the season, including two starts. She averaged 3.4 points a contest and ranked second in the WNBA with a 42.9 three-point field goal percentage. She hit 27-of-63 treys on the season and has now drained 41 three-pointers in two years in the league.

Volleyball

Saint Augustine: The Lady Falcons had Shaw University on the ropes in its women’s volleyball match Wednesday night. The Lady Falcons needed only two points to win the match, but the Lady Bears scored seven straight points to steal a 3-2 CIAA Southern Division win at Emery Gymnasium. The Lady Falcons (7-9 overall, 3-5 CIAA) dropped to 1-4 in the division.

Miscellaneous

Duke: Duke Athletics and NIKE, Inc., have agreed on a 12-year extension to their partnership that will see Nike supply all 27 of the Blue Devils’ athletics teams with uniforms, footwear, apparel and equipment innovation through 2027. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
