Demon Deacons lead ACC Tournament field

After its 4-2 victory Friday night against Louisville, the Wake Forest men's soccer team has officially locked up the No. 1-seed in the ACC Championship after the conference regular season concludedSaturday with Notre Dame topping Pittsburgh.

The Demon Deacons earned a first-round bye through to the quarterfinals on Nov. 8. Wake Forest will take on No. 8-seed Duke or No. 9-seed Louisville at 1 p.m. next weekend.

Campbell: The Camels and the Eagles combined to score three early goals within one minute of play and Winthrop came away with a 4-1 victory onn Saturday afternoon.

Duke: The Blue Devils, finishing 3-4-1 in ACC play for 10 points, will host No. 9 seed Louisville Nov. 4 at 7 p.m in the ACC Championship first round.

Mt. Olive: Freshman Stefan Faria picked the perfect time to score his first collegiate goal as his game winner in the fifth minute of overtime gave the Trojans a 1-0 victory over Emmanuel in Conference Carolinas men’s soccerSaturday at Franklin Springs, Ga.

Cross Country

ECU: Redshirt junior Jorge Montes and junior Carolina Reiser earned all-conference honors Saturday as the Pirates hosted the 2015 American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at Lake Kristi in Grimesland, N.C.

Elon: Rookie Nick Ciolkowski became the second Phoenix runner in as many years to claim a Colonial Athletic Association individual championship as the cross country programs competed at the 2015 CAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday at the course at Laurel Hill Plantation.

NCCU: Junior Gregory Coward ran a personal-best time during the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday to lead the Eagles to a ninth-place team finish in Smyrna, Delaware at the Delaware State University Outreach and Research Center.

Field Hockey

Duke: The fourth-ranked Blue Devils held off upset-minded Liberty, earning a 3-2 overtime victory over the 10th-ranked Flames on a Heather Morris goal in the 73rd minute Saturday.

Men’s Basketball

Wake Forest: Cornelius Hudson and Rondale Watson will serve suspensions at the beginning of the 2015-16 season for a violation of departmental rules, head coach Danny Manning announced Saturday.

Volleyball

Mt. Olive: The Trojanes fell to Emmanuel College 25-21, 25-23, 25-16 in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball Saturday afternoon in Franklin Springs, Ga. Alysha Burnett and Samantha Winfield combined for 23 digs in the match.

Women’s Golf

Duke: Sophomore Leona Maguire will be officially presented with the 2015 Mark H. McCormack Medal as the leading player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking TM Sunday prior to a practice round at the East Lake Cup in Atlanta, Ga.

Wrestling

Duke: Redshirt senior Conner Hartmann is set to make Blue Devil wrestling historySunday. Hartmann will travel to Atlanta to compete in the prestigious Hire Heroes NWCA All-Star Classic presented by the Wrestlers in Business Network
