UNC track takes Carolina Cup
CHAPEL HILL Kicking off the 2016 indoor track season with the Dick Taylor Carolina Cup, North Carolina took both team titles, scoring 60 points on the women’s side and 47 for the men.
Duke finished with a pair of second-place team finishes, with the women scoring 49 points and the men 43 points.
Men’s Tennis
UNC: The ninth-ranked team opened its spring season Saturday with resounding wins over visiting Georgetown and North Carolina A&T. The Tar Heels hosted the Hoyas in the morning, winning 6-0 and they beat the Aggies 6-1.
Swimming and Diving
Duke: Facing ranked men’s and women’s teams from Indiana and Michigan as well as host Georgia Tech, the women came away with the lone win on the day, topping the Yellow Jacket women by a 198-101 margin. The 22nd-ranked men dropped to 6-3 (2-1 ACC).
Wrestling
Duke: Conner Hartmann and Mitch Finesilver remained unbeaten in dual action as the Blue Devils fell to No. 16 Stanford, 27-15.
Football
Campebell: Wide receivers coach Adam Morris has been accepted into the NCAA and NFL Coaches Academy, which provides current, full-time intercollegiate coaches at NCAA schools opportunities to expand their knowledge and insight into intercollegiate coaching.
Fayetteville State assistant coach Theron Jones has also been accepted to the program, which takes place Feb. 18-21 in Tampa, Fla.
