Listen to HBCU Voice episode 7: A News & Observer sports podcast

Rachael Robinson brought up an interesting point last week when she called out Major League Baseball for the low numbers of African Americans in baseball.

Where are they? How can you honor Jackie Robinson’s legacy, when you no longer have anything to show for it? Currently there are 7.8 percent of African Americans on Major League Baseball teams. In college, the numbers are even less. Even HBCU’s have majority white and Hispanic kids.

So we asked ourselves, why aren’t African Americans playing the game of baseball? In this podcast we only touched the surface. We play to discuss it more in the future.
