Elon football assistant retires
ELON After 40 years of college coaching, Elon defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jerry Petercuskie announced his retirement from coaching. Petercuskie and his family will retire to Cape Cod in Massachusetts.
Petercuskie spent the past two seasons on the Phoenix staff under head coach Rich Skrosky.
Petercuskie also assisted at Virginia (1995-96), Boston College (1997-2006) and N.C. State University (2007-12).

ACC: Area honorees in the 2016 ACC Legends class include: Jason Willams, guard, Duke; James Worthy, forward, North Carolina; Anthony “Spud” Webb, guard, N.C.State; and Dave Odom, coach, Wake Forest.
Women’s Basketball
ECU: Redshirt senior guard Jada Payne has earned a spot on the 2016 Dawn Staley Award Mid-Season Watch List the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia announced on Thursday. The award recognizes the nation’s best guard in Women’s Division I college basketball. Staley is currently the head coach at the South Carolina and was a three-time All-America at Virginia.
Men’s Lacrosse
Mount Olive: The program was voted second in the Conference Carolinas preseason poll, behind first place Limestone.
Women’s Lacrosse
Mount Olive: The team was voted second in the Conference Carolinas Preseason poll.
Women’s Soccer
NC State: Daria Draovitch, Paige Griffiths and Carrie Lewis have joined the program and are immediately eligible to train with the team.
