Wake Forest track leads in W. Va.

Both the Wake Forest men’s and women’s track and field teams have the highest team scores after one day of competition at the Chipotle Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.Va. The Deacon teams combined for four event wins on the afternoon.

The Demon Deacon men lead a field of eight teams with 46 team points, while Appalachian State is in second with 43.

Women’s Golf

Elon: The team climbed to third place overall after the second round of the FGCU Eagle Invitational on Saturday , at Stoneybrook Golf Club.

Lacrosse

UNC: The university dominated the face-off circle in the final three quarters to emerge with a 14-6 victory over Furman at Fetzer Field Saturday afternoon.

Softball

Elon: The team tallied its highest run total since 2014 with its 17-3 run-rule victory over Winthrop on Saturday,in its first game of the day at the University of Georgia Red and Black Showcase at Jack Turner Stadium.

Men’s Tennis

UNC: The team advanced to the semifinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships for the first time in program history Saturday with a 4-2 win over eighth-ranked Ohio State in Charlottesville, Va.

Wrestling

Duke: Conner Hartmann and Mitch Finesilver extended their win streaks and Jake Faust picked up another ranked victory in a 27-9 loss to No. 8 Virginia Tech to close out the Blue Devils’ regular season home schedule.
