No. 8 Fla. tops UNC lacrosse 16-15

Eighth-ranked Florida (3-0) scored four consecutive goals in a 10-minute span of the second half and beat second-ranked North Carolina 16-15 Saturday at Fetzer Field.

Carolina (3-1) took control early in a two-minute sequence midway through the first half and led at one point by a 5-1 score.

Men’s Lacrosse

Mt. Olive: The host Trojans defeated Catawba College 11-5 in non-conference action. Three Trojans scored two goals a piece to outlast the Indians.

Raleigh Sports Club

Mick Mixon, Radio Voice of the Carolina Panthers, will be the special guest speaker Wednesday. Chloe Mikles, who has made a verbal commitment to swim at Cornell, will be recognized as the Student Athlete of the Week.

Softball

Elon: Despite a season and career-best six strikeouts from senior pitcher Kayla Caruso, the team suffered a 2-0 setback to Omaha in the Phoenix’s first contest Saturday at the Citrus Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World.

Men’s Volleyball

Mt. Olive: Kellan Hollingsworth’s service run and net play by Peyton Schirman and Andrew Sydow sparked a late spurt as Mount Olive extended its winning streak to four – including three wins in three consecutive days – with a 25-23, 26-24, 23-25, 25-23 victory over King University in Conference Carolinas Saturday at Kornegay Arena.
