Duke’s Kyra Harney is lacrosse player of week

Sophomore attacker Kyra Harney became the third Blue Devil to garner National Player of the Week recognition this season, receiving the accolade from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Harney turned in a five-point effort last Saturday to help the Blue Devils overtake 11th-ranked Boston College by a 12-8 score.

Harney leads the Blue Devils in points (52), goals (38), game-winning goals (3) and hat tricks (8). She ranks third in the ACC in goals per game (2.71) and fourth in points per game (3.71) while ranking among the top 40 players in the country in both categories.

BASEBALL

Duke: The teamhosts No. 1 Miami in a three-game set Friday to Sunday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Games times are 6 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Wake Forest: UNC Greensboro had seven players with multiple hit games as the Spartans trounced the Demon Deacons 18-3 Wednesday night at the UNCG Stadium.

TENNIS

NC State: The No. 38 Wolfpack will host Senior Day on Friday, closing the season against Wake Forest. Joanna Nalborska and Taylor Zaytoun take the home court for the final time in their collegiate careers.

SOFTBALL

St. Augustine: The doubleheader between the Lady Falcons and Bluefield State College set for Friday in Bluefield, Va., has been canceled. The Lady Falcons will play again Saturday against crosstown rival Shaw University at Worthdale Park in Raleigh. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS

N.C. State: Raleigh native Drew Grantham signed a National Letter of Intent Wednesday to join the program for the 2017 season. A Level 10 gymnast from Team Attraction Gymnastics, Grantham trains under N.C. State alum Monica (Berry) Ward, Todd Shahan and Scott Wilson. She is slated to arrive on campus in the fall of 2016.

MEN’S GOLF

Campbell: The Camels will be the second seed in next week's Big South Conference championship at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C. They rank behind only defending champ Charleston Southern in the event that begins Sunday.

FOOTBALL

Campbell: The Camels will close out their spring practice period Saturday, before hosting the eighth annual Earl Smith Golf Tournament on Monday. The team was originally scheduled to close out their spring camp Monday.
