Notebook: Duke puts 15 on All-ACC Academic outdoor track list

Fifteen Duke student-athletes earned All-ACC academic honors, as announced by the league office Wednesday, with eight on the women’s outdoor track & field team and seven on the men’s outdoor track & field team. Duke’s eight honorees on the women’s side tied with Florida State for the most in the conference, and the team’s seven male selections were the second-most behind only Virginia Tech.

The Duke women were recent graduates Olivia Anderson, Anima Banks, Megan Clark, Madison Granger, Teddi Maslowski and Madeline Morrow, rising senior Madeline Kopp and rising junior Madison Heath.

For the men, recent graduates Shaun Thompson and Matt Rodio topped the list, along with rising redshirt senior Michal Filipczak, rising seniors Dylan Murphy and Alec Kunzweiler, rising junior Brett Bofinger and rising sophomore Nick Solfanelli.

N.C. State: Nine Wolfpack student-athletes were selected to the All-ACC Academic outdoor track and field team.

Jonathan Addison, Joshua Davis, Sebastian Hanson, Nyheim Hines, Sam Parsons and Meron Simon represented the men’s team, and Megan Moye, Alexis Perry and Alyssa Rudawsky made the women’s team.

▪ Kaitlin Kramer and Alexis Perry of the cross country and track and field teams have been nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Wake Forest: Five members of the men’s and women’s teams were named to the All-ACC outdoor track and field academic teams.

Seniors Sydney White and Kathleen Adair and junior Casidy Callahan received the honor for the women, and junior Charlie Ionata and freshman Robert Heppenstall were selections on the men’s side.

Swimming and Diving

Duke: Eleven members of the Blue Devils’ men’s and women’s teams garnered Scholar All-America honors, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced. The 11 selections are the most for the program since 2012.

N.C. State: Seven members of the men’s team and five members of the women’s squad were named Scholar All-Americans. An additional eight from the program were recognized as honorable mention selections.

Men’s Basketball

Wake Forest: The Deacons program announced that Randolph Childress was promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach. Childress is entering his sixth year on the staff.
